Hello Myrtle Beach Birth Services readers!
The state of South Carolina birth centers still hangs in the balance, as our legislative route to keeping facilities open may be coming to an end. The House and Senate are busy working on the state budget, and our avenues for passing H5002 or seeking an extension to the mid-June deadline are looking slim. We need your support more than ever!
On March 1, organizers of SaveCBP.org put on an amazingly fun fundraiser at Holy City Brewing in North Charleston, SC. It was a cold and rainy day, but we still had enough people show up to give the brewery their best day of sales. We generated about $7,000 to go toward our legal and legislative fund to go toward our escalating bills for a lawyer and lobbyist.
The Saturday, May 31, fundraiser and food truck rodeo, again at Holy City Brewing, is shaping up to be a bigger and better event. We will have live music from South Carolina bands, Charleston-area food trucks, adult beverages, local vendors, a silent auction and tons of activities for the kids. This is a family-friendly event!
Even though the event is in Charleston, the money raised benefits ALL South Carolina birth centers. We want the choice for natural, safe and gentle birth available for every Palmetto State family. And once legislation passes to enhance birth center statutes and bring the facilities under national standards, these women-owned, small businesses will grow and thrive.
Let’s stand up to the South Carolina Medical Association, the South Carolina Hospital Association and all other state agencies and legislators who want to deprive their fellow taxpayers of the right to choose where we give birth and plan on being at Holy City Brewing on May 31.
Thank you for your support. Please visit SaveCBP.org for more information and back story to our situation.
